TASC's ATI model is based on critical elements fundamental to integrating the criminal justice and substance abuse treatment systems, holding both defendants and systems accountable through the implementation of client-specific case management. A goal of integrated services is to safely manage high-risk, high-need offenders in the community by balancing intervention opportunities with controlled supervision.
Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities (TASC) of the Capital District provides alternatives to incarceration (ATI) services to reduce detention and recidivism as well as promote safer communities.
Since 1984, we save been supporting this mission by providing specialized case management and technical assistance services, bridging the gap between the criminal justice and treatment systems.
Especially for individuals who are detained, there is a gap in access to treatment as an alternative to incarceration, a need for specialized case management to navigate across and work within multiple siloed systems (criminal justice, treatment, collateral), and a necessity for individualized wraparound services to resolve barriers to treatment.
In our 37th year of operation, TASC of the Capital District is proud to be a community-based collaborator with justice stakeholders including the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility, the Rensselaer County Probation Department and the Rensselaer County Recovery Court with support from the NYS Legislature, NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, NYS Unified Court System, Bureau of Justice Assistance and the County of Rensselaer.
As a founding member of the statewide Alternatives to Incarceration (ATI) Coalition, we support ATI public policy advocacy and the demonstrative ATI services provided by the Coalition members in each respective region. We look forward to continuing to build collaborative relationships with criminal justice stakeholders and community-based providers, focusing on impactful case management services and bridging the gap in access to OASAS and OMH services for the justice-involved population.
